A young Swedish artist with a growing reputation born October 10th 1978 in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up in a very musical family and as both parents played different instruments his first musical impressions were gained from chamber music. He began piano lessons at an early age and shortly after started playing the violin as well.
After graduating from secondary school he was admitted as a foundation scholar at the Royal College of Music in London on both piano and violin as joint principal studies graduating in 2001 with first class honours on both instruments. At the RCM he studied the piano with Professor Irina Zaritskaya and the violin with Dr. Felix Andrievsky.
Maximilian has won several prizes and awards. In the years 2000 and 2002 he received a scholarship from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music to study abroad and during 2001 he won the Vivian Hamilton prize for his interpretation of Chopin's music as well as the W.H. Reed prize for his performance on the violin. Since 2002 Maximilian has been living in Vienna, Austria where he performs as a soloist and a chamber musician. Maximilian has a unique ability to capture the essence of music when communicating his personal interpretation to the audience. As a listener you will experience an auditory communication speaking directly to you. You will discover a musicianship based on a sincere conviction that music is a powerful and colourful language. Maximilian is a charismatic person with a convincing stage presence.
The fascination to communicate is also shown through his gift for and interest in languages. This might to some degree explain why he is mastering two so very different instruments with regard to colour of sound and forms of expressions. It is an exciting and exceptional experience for the audiences to enjoy an artist with the privilege and the ability to perform music from two so different worlds of sound.
Maximilian has given many recitals on both instruments and performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in several countries like England, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Belarus, Sweden and Austria. Since 2003 Maximilian Bratt enjoys the honour of being Stammkünstler (artist in residence) at the Beethoven Memorial in Vienna. Maximilian has also performed as a soloist on both instruments (many times in the same concert) with various orchestras, performing concertos from the Classic and Romantic repertoire. He has also been invited by the International Chopin Society to play at their concerts in Vienna as well as the yearly Summer Festival in Gaming in Austria.
